Further Steps will be a growing library of resources to help Christians to grow in their faith, to move forward in following the way of Jesus. Each resource will include signposts to some of the best resources available to help you further along the path of following Jesus.
The aim of the LifePath resources is to be biblical and practical. Not just informing you about aspects of the Christian faith but helping you to apply the teachings of the Bible to your life so that you can move forward in the way of Jesus. They will be about practical steps you can take. Jesus did not come to fill our minds but to transform our lives. They will be based on important truths but there will always be principles that you can actively put into practice.
There will eventually be resources on things like understanding our new identity in Christ and the difference it can make, on how to handle doubts about our faith, how to get the most from the Bible, cultivating practices of prayer, and much more. It will be a gradually growing resource hub and can be helped and shaped by your feedback. Each resource will be deliberately brief as I am not trying to reinvent the wheel. I want simply to introduce an area of the Christian lifepath, and then signpost you to the best resources that are already out there and which I am confident can help you.
My aim is to start with material I used over thirty years as a pastor, and then to add to, develop and refine them as I read more, learn more, grow more myself, and become aware of other resources out there. I also am happy to receive submissions from others who are passionate about a particular area of Christian discipleship and have something to contribute (contact me here for further information on this).
Behind all the resources and materials on this site is the conviction that Jesus calls us to a way of life that is totally different to the ways of this world. We are called to be part of a different kingdom that summons us into a way of life that is radically countercultural.
To be a disciple of Jesus Christ is to learn to walk in the ways of his different kingdom. Followers of Jesus are apprentices in this alternative kingdom. My hope and prayer is that these resources, and all the material on this site, will encourage and help to equip such apprentices to follow the way of Jesus more effectively and fruitfully.
