Christians, especially those in the US, are feeling pushed out of the public square and marginalised in contemporary culture. Our response should not be to try to hold on to a privileged position in society or to react angrily and aggressively out of fear. Instead of trying to regain cultural dominance, we should commit to building authentic Christian communities that influence our culture through ‘redemptive participation’. Such communities have been called creative minorities. Based on an alternative story and moral vision to our cultures, and with an allegiance to a different kingdom, we can influence our society for good. We don’t have to control the culture or withdraw from it. We can influence it by being a faithful and fruitful presence through redemptive participation. The authors consider six key characteristics of a creative minority.
Click on the button below to read the book summary. It should take about 15-20 minutes to read. I hope soon to produce an audio version for those who prefer to listen.
